Dance of the Tulips
Tulips are one of my most favourite flowers to paint, from the smooth velvety surface of their large petals to their long graceful stems, they stand proudly and confidently in the garden but I also love the way they bend and open up when placed in a vase. I enjoyed blending the watercolours on paper to create a subtle gradation in colour from dark yellow at the base to deep pink at the tips of the petals. When creating this composition, I couldn’t help think these stems were enraptured in an intimate dance!
