Wairau Wildflowers
Wildflowers foraged from walks around my neighbourhood here in Oakura, and in particular along Wairau Road which is just around the corner from where I live.
Wildflowers will always have a special place in my heart and remind me of playing in meadows as a kid in the height of Summer. Geranium, clover, snowdrops and nasturtium are just a few of the flowers that I have included in this painting. As with all my paintings, I love to respect the delicate nature of each flower, to give them space on the page and layer them down gently, using the lightest washes and allowing them to gracefully nestle amongst each other.
